Ketelfactory Schiedam
Book presentation by Oek de Jong
May 12 3 to 6pm
During the opening Maria’s latest book ‘the emergence of form’ will be presented. This book covers the research into one form, the rubber innertube. From the bodyscale to architecture.
For years designer and artist Maria Blaisse has been researching form in different materials and application possibilities. The last years she developed a series of large bamboo sculptures.
In the Ketelfactory Blaisse will show 3 flexible bamboo structures.
By light, the shadow of the structures will set the spaces into motion. The contraction and release of the structures cause a breathing movement. Next to the three-dimensional works, there will be two films showing the bamboo forms meeting the dancer in wind, sand and water.
The book is published by nai010.
