LANDSCAPE OF CARE | WEAVING AN OASIS is a 10-day intensive program in the southern Moroccan city of Tiznit, close to the Atlantic coast. A series of creative exercises between the ancient urban center (medina) and the city’s green oasis are designed to encourage rediscovery of local material culture and its power for enhancing spatial and social qualities, while instilling in participants an intuition of caring for the environment.
This multidisciplinary research program is led by Dutch artist Maria Blaisse and Moroccan jewelry & textile designer Amina Agueznay. Together they will guide participants in exploring the materiality of the Tiznit oasis, applying traditional and contemporary techniques of weaving to generate structures and experiences between the body and space, sensing qualities of shaping and moving, energy creation and dispersion, and more.
